New employee gifts ready for a new year

 

Why buy the new folks gifts? They might not stay? Do we really need a budget line for this?

 

Yes!

 

No-one hires a team member expecting them to leave right? How can you make a great first impression? Let new team members know that staff are valued, that you know they need the right tools to do the job, and to build employee and brand loyalty and even support employee advocacy?

 

We are not saying all that can be done with a branded pen, but it’s all part of the wonder welcome and onboarding process.

 

Reasons to invest in a new starter pack

When to introduce the new starter welcome pack?

 

Are they WFH or work in the office?

If they are working from home and this is an online welcome, send it ahead so they have the pack for their first day.

 

Make it part of the induction program

Have it ready on day one on their desk, if they arrive a little early they can keep busy by opening up the treats, or consider the personal touch and hand it over during their first meeting of the day with their line manager. 

 

The best things come to those who wait

You could hold back and issue the welcome pack once a few weeks have passed once you have got to know them and understood any dietary requirements, allergies or interests.

 

What to include in your employee starter pack

What to include in your company on-boarding kit

 

Try to create a pack for new starters which will work for everyone, whether they work remotely, in the office, warehouse or on are on the road a lot. Build your pack according to your budget, pick some items from this list:

 

  • Branded pen (you might have these for exhibitions and shows anyway)

  • Branded notebook

  • Company lanyard

  • Branded laptop sticker

  • Branded sticky notes (novelty shapes available)

  • Branded insulated mug

  • Branded water bottle

  • Branded coaster

  • Branded phone case - if they have a company mobile

  • Branded laptop sleeve

  • Branded tote or lunch box for bringing their bits and bobs to the office)

  • Branded laptop bag

  • Branded charger or 3-in-1 charging cable

 

Tip: make sure everything you include is evergreen, if you go for a printed diary or calendar it has a time limit. The same applies if you include edibles/perishables, be careful about storage and issue dates.

 

Tip: If you’re going for workwear it can be tricky to manage sizes, and have enough of the right size for everyone and too many in another size.
